Interim RecTech Lead (Rainier Beach)

Associated Recreation Council, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, is recruiting for an Interim RecTech Site Lead to work with teens and adults to provide learning opportunities in the RecTech Computer Lab at the Rainier Beach Community Center.

Pay Rate: $30 per hour, temporary, non-exempt

Interim Schedule:

  • July 5, 2018 - August 17, 2018
  • Monday - Friday; up to 30 hours per week

Basic Duties:

  • Design and implement regular program opportunities for 10 intern high school students
  • Engage the interns in a wide range of project-based learning activities, assistance, online employment tools, social service resources, and other computer related needs
  • Create engaging and enriching computer-based programming
  • Collaborate with other service organizations including Seattle Parks and Recreation staff, RecTech volunteers, and community partners
  • Collect and report lab usage data on a regular basis

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with teens and adults in instructional and/or service environments
  • A desire to use and teach technology (computers, printers, digital cameras, projectors, multimedia equipment) to implement community programs.
  • Solid knowledge of basic computer programs, PC computer hardware, such as a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and basic knowledge of a CPU (how to turn on, where to plug in monitor, keyboard, etc.).
  • Commitment to serving a diverse clientele
  • Experience with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Suite, or Garage Band/Sound mixing highly preferred
  • Knowledge of high school level core academic subjects
  • Ability to communicate in written and verbal form with various audiences
  • Knowledge of Rainier Beach community is preferred

This is a part-time, interim, Monday through Friday 30 hours per week position.
