Site Attendant

The Site Attendant at Wedgwood Elementary School performs a variety of custodial tasks to maintain clean, sanitary, and safe conditions in and around the program facilities at Wedgwood Elementary School. This position reports to the Field Supervisor of the program and may work under the direct supervision of the program Director.  This is a part-time, non-exempt position. 

Rate of Pay: $16.25/hour

Schedule:

  • 2 evenings a week; starting after 6:00pm
  • Maximum of 10 hours/week
  • Once hired, the work schedule will be set with the program’s field supervisor and may change based upon need.

Responsibilities:
The following represents a variety of the responsibilities assigned to the person in this position. The examples represent typical work, but are not intended to be inclusive of all duties required for this position.

  • Use and maintain hand tools and power equipment such as brooms, mops, squeegees, vacuums, and other tools required for the cleaning and general maintenance of the facilities
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, which may include the kitchen and the fixtures located in these areas
  • Empty wastebaskets and trash containers and follow the recycling and composting program.
  • Sweep, dry and wet mop, scrub, flooring surfaces. Vacuum carpets and furniture.
  • Replace toilet paper, paper towels, and another restroom supplies as needed.
  • Clean walls, windows, windowsills, blinds, mirrors, vents  
  • Perform custodial maintenance of work and activity areas.
  • Read and follow instructions and labels regarding chemicals, cleaners and supplies, including Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) information, and the proper use of personal protective equipment or use as directed.
  • Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights. 
  • Work cooperatively with other members of the ARC staff
  • Communicate all questions, issues and concerns to the Field Supervisor
  • Perform related duties as required, including weekly, monthly, or annual custodial projects.
  • Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs in areas within sixteen feet of buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment.
  • Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Attention to detail: Thoroughness is important. Keeping every corner of a room clean, making sure that every detail is taken care of is crucial.
  • Have essential physical and mental capabilities in the following: Interpersonal skills, memory, follow directions, comprehension, reading, writing, speaking, evaluating, organizing.

Physical Demands:

  • The Site Attendant will be on their feet majority of the working hours, and may have to lift heavy objects, from 25+ lbs.

Requirements:

  • Eighteen years of age or older
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Physical ability to do the required work.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently without immediate supervision
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US and valid government ID
  • Must sign up for direct deposit with either checking or savings account
  • Take classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products, First Aid, CPR, and working relationships as needed.
