Summer Activity Camp Counselor (Hiawatha Community Center)

Associated Recreation Council, the non-profit partner with Seattle Parks & Recreation, is recruiting for enthusiastic people who will help us deliver fun and creative summer day camp programs at Hiawatha Community Center for children ages 5-12.

Our Summer Activity Camp Counselors work in the school-age child care programs, which provide a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for children to learn, play, and grow.

Summer Day Camp Schedule:

  • June 25 – August 31, 2018
  • Monday – Friday, 25-40 hours per week
  • Available shifts are 8:00am – 6:00pm but could just be am or pm depending on the program/schedule
  • Mandatory pre-camp training and orientation will be scheduled

Rate: $15.50 - 16.50 per hour

Our Counselors:

  • Organize and lead programs and activities such as: arts and crafts, cooking, dance, drama, organized games, science, strategy and teambuilding activities, and a variety of sports
  • Work with other staff to ensure the care and safety of participants at all times
  • Must be willing to complete training for certification in First Aid/CPR and HIV/AIDS blood-borne pathogens education


  • Eighteen years of age or older
  • High School diploma/GED or transcripts of secondary education
  • At least one year experience working with 5-12 year olds
  • Experience with large groups on field trips is preferred
  • Ability to commit to a full summer is strongly preferred  
  • Clear Tuberculosis results within the past year
  • Valid WA state driver’s license or WA state ID
  • Current First Aid, and CPR certification a plus
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US and valid government issued ID
  • Must sign up for direct deposit with either checking or savings account or Payroll Paycard
