Summer Clay Camp Lead Instructor

The Summer Clay Camp Lead Instructor will lead a group of youth between the ages of 5-12, exploring both clay hand-building and wheel techniques.  The clay camp lead may also teach other activities as needed within the summer camp program. 

Location: Montlake Community Center

Camp Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:45am - 12:45pm and 1:30pm – 5:00pm

Start date: June 18, 2018

End date: August 31, 2018

Pay range:  $20 - $25 per hour DOE 

Basic duties:

  • Develop, plan, lead and implement imaginative activities that facilitate and encourage creativity.
  • Maintain positive relationships with families, staff, and the general public.
  • Prepare a weekly calendar of activities. 
  • Complete required administrative reports, such as attendance and activity logs, accident/incident reports, hot sheets, and evaluations.
  • Load and unload kiln.  Fire projects in a timely fashion. 
  • Ensure that all equipment and materials are stored properly each day.
  • Communicate efficiently with supporting staff. 
  • May lead and work within other summer camp programs


  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • AA in Fine Arts, or related field.
  • At least two years experience planning and supervising fine-arts programs and/or educational activities for children.
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification, valid WA state driver’s license.
  • Must pass a WSP criminal background check.
  • Successful candidate must be available for trainings and workshops prior to the start date
