Summer Geocaching Camp Lead Instructor

The Summer Geocaching Camp Lead Instructor will lead a group of youth between the ages of 5-12 in a summer day camp environment that is designed with exciting Geo finds and amazing outdoor trails filled with adventures. 

Location: Montlake Community Center

Schedule: Monday – Friday 20-40 hours per week; mandatory pre-camp training and orientation will be offered. Hours are dependent upon sufficient program participants and program schedule.

Start date: June 18, 2018

End date: August 31, 2018

Pay range:  $18 - 22 per hour DOE 

Basic duties:

  • Plan, Implement and lead participants through the geocaching program and other recreational activities
  • Ability to use GPS and compasses
  • Knowledge of map reading and outdoor safety
  • Ability to work with staff to ensure the care and safety of participants at all times
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of program activities
  • Design and publish weekly activity calendars
  • Maintain positive relationships with families, staff, and the general public
  • Complete required administrative reports, such as attendance and activity logs, accident/incident reports, and evaluations

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 20 years of age
  • At least two years experience planning and supervising recreational programs and/or educational activities for children
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Computer experience with Word and Excel
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification – or willing to go through the training
  • Must pass a criminal background check, valid WA state driver’s license
  • Successful candidate must be available for training prior to start date
