Summer Specialty Sports Camp Counselor (Garfield)

Our Summer Specialty Sports Camp Counselors work at Garfield Community Center with children between the ages of 5-12 in a specific sport camp.  Sports offered are: Flag Football, Soccer, Baseball, Tennis, Ultimate Frisbee, Lacrosse.

Location: Garfield Community Center

Start Date: June 25, 2018

End Date: August 31, 2018

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday up to 20-40 hours per week; mandatory pre-camp and orientation/training day will be offered.
  • Available shifts are between 8:00am – 6:00pm but could be am or pm depending on the program/schedule
  • Mandatory pre-camp training and orientation will be offered
  • You may be asked to work at other sites as necessary

Pay Rate: $15.50 per hour

Basic duties:

  • Implement age appropriate drills and games for your designated sport, focusing on the fundamentals and good sportsmanship. The drills and games will be planned for you in advance.
  • Maintain positive relationships with families, staff, and the general public
  • Complete required administrative reports, such as accident/incident reports, hot sheets, and evaluations
  • Ensure that equipment is inventoried and stored properly

Requirements:

  • Preffered candidate to be at least 19 years of age
  • Obtaining a degree in Early Childhood Education, Physical Education, or related field preferred
  • At least two years experience working recreational programs and/or educational activities for children
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to get trained before summer
  • Must pass a WSP criminal background check, valid WA state driver’s license
  • Successful candidate must also be willing to attend a (paid) new hire orientation and preference given to applicants available for the majority of the summer
