We're honored to announce Sarah Martinez as our keynote speaker at Fund the Fun this year.
Ms. Martinez is a fervent advocate for positive social change, dedicating her career to fostering meaningful impact in the pursuit of equity in outdoor spaces.
Her commitment to diversity and inclusion is ingrained in her journey. As a student at the University of Utah's S.J. Quinney College of Law in Salt Lake City, she actively championed diversity efforts as the leader of various student groups. Under her leadership, her team earned prestigious accolades, including the David T. Lewis Experiential Award for Excellence in a Clinic and the University of Utah Beacon of Excellence Award. These recognitions are a testament to their progressive research on enhancing diversity within Utah's legal profession.
Sarah's academic endeavors seamlessly paved the way for a career dedicated to empowering others and addressing inequities. In 2021, she was selected as part of the inaugural cohort of fellows at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Center for Water Policy. During her fellowship, she conducted extensive research on legal issues related to public access rights in the Great Lakes region. This work led her to publish policy briefs and blog posts, sparking crucial conversations about improving outdoor access. Her contributions extend to reputable publications such as the Sea Grant Law & Policy Journal, the University of Texas at Austin's Environmental Law Journal, and Berkeley's Ecology Law Quarterly, where her most recent article on access to blue space was featured.
